Emily Jane Boyle is a Choreographer, Movement Director and Intimacy Director.

She creates movement and dance for theatre, musical theatre, film, television, editorials, commercials and large-scale events.

EJ trained at the Dance School of Scotland, the Royal Ballet School and London Studio Centre. Her performance career spanned theatre, film, television and radio, and included Rufus Norris’ Olivier Award winning production of Cabaret, the original cast and dance captain of the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Olivier and Tony award winning Matilda the Musical, as Christine in Dexter Fletcher’s film of Sunshine on Leith and as a company member of Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures. She went on to work as assistant/associate choreographer for Liam Steel, Javier de Frutos and Arthur Pita.

As Movement Director and Choreographer, her recent work includes Tom Stoppard’s Leopoldstadt, directed by Patrick Marber (West End and Broadway, Olivier Award for Best New Play and Tony Award for Best Play), Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (Leeds Playhouse and UK Tour), Isobel McArthur’s The Grand Old Opera House Hotel (Traverse Theatre) and Pride and Prejudice* (*Sort Of) (West End, Olivier Award for Best Comedy).

Her choreography features in Netflix’ multi-award winning series The Crown, the 1950’s set ITV series In Plain Sight, the Sony feature film Our Ladies, and the indie film musical God Help The Girl (Sundance Film Festival Special Jury Prize).

Intimacy Support includes The Cook, the Thief, his Wife and her Lover (Faena Theatre, Miami), Talent (Crucible Theatre), and Adults (Traverse Theatre).

EJ was was Mass Movement Director of the The Queen’s 90th Birthday Parade, Assistant Artistic Director and Choreographer at the Baku European Games, Choreographer of the live stadium productions of the BBC comedy Still Game and Creative Associate and Choreographer for the Glasgow Commonwealth Games Opening and Closing Ceremonies.
